Ultrasound imaging of the breast is painless. You will be asked to take off your top and bra and lie on your back on an examination couch. Our radiologist with experience in breast ultrasound might examine your breast prior to the scan. He will spread some warm gel on your skin and then press an ultrasound transducer (probe) against your breast, moving it until the desired images are captured. You may be asked to turn to one side and our radiologist might press your breast during scanning to assess the movement of the tissues inside your breast.

You may be able to ask questions during the examination and our radiologist may explain some of the displayed images.
